Really nice work, but I wonder something.
Is it mean you have no idea of what you want and where you go when you begin to paint ?

Most paintings I have a clear idea of the subject (this includes client work) - some I have no idea and just like to be spontaneous and see what I come up with after experimenting. Makes everything more interesting.

I find it funny how you wrote "CHECK YO VALUES MAN" because my color teacher told us the exact same thing :XD:
I'm still trying to figure out how to truly understand them.
I really hope someday to be as good as you :D
Your tutorial is very helpful and interesting, I love it!
Thank you so much :icondurrhurrplz:

How many photos do you think you ended up bashing together?

thankyou so much, glad you like it!

Good question! I think I used about 5-7? I lose track, I'll count next time. And also used the same photo a few times but use different parts of it, and duplicated some of one photo in an area.

Thank you for sharing the process! It's a very experimental approach :) I feel a little sad because i loved your first foreground but it's a cool piece anyway ^^

This is really amazing well done and I have two questions for you
1.Did you actually draw the buildings or did you just paint over the pictures they gave you?
2. What paint program did you use?

thanks very much! Sure! I use Photoshop.

I painted over the photos my friends gave me after distorting them, some parts of the buildings and the ones in the background I painted from scratch - the advantage of photos is that they give details to areas and make the painting have a nice realistic effect, just need to paint them in properly and make sure it blends into the painting ^__^

I hope that I will, but I wonder if it would work in Gimp also?

I think so? I used GIMP when I first started painting but it's been ages now: if it has the options of good painting brushes and you're able to bring in photos, I think you can do it. Just as long as you're keeping fundamentals in mind, you can create anything in any program. It's like drawing digitally is the same as you drawing traditionally - same mindset and core basics. You can do it :)

(Really though my advice, if you are able to get your hands on Photoshop - get it. It'll be worth it.)

Thankyou, so glad you like it! hahahah yeah! I first started the building upright but then was like, 'WHAT IF I DO THIIIIIIIS' and then it strangely looked better. Really shows that everything in life is just form and shapes :)

'Add  a figure for scale. And don't make it a guy holding a stick. You're smarter than that.'
Very helpful. cheers.

Good painting in the end.

No worries, hahah yeah I notice the stickguy in too much concept art. You can totally represent scale in a much creative way instead of half-assing it. (I confess I used to be guilty of putting stickguys hahaha, but now I try make an effort to avoid it because hey, it can be better!)

Thanks so much!
